recruitment & retention organizing committee (RROC)
Mission Statement
The Recruitment and Retention Organizing Committee (RROC) holds that education is a vehicle for liberating individuals and creating change for communities. Guided by the principles of holistic learning, RROC will strive to create an atmosphere conducive for educational achievement; encourage the development of critical consciousness at the primary, secondary, and university levels; and serve as a vehicle to empower all people.
RROC Constitution Preamble
The formation of the Recruitment and Retention Organizing committee (RROC) is an example of students at the University of California at Davis taking their educational destinies into their own hands. This process of self determination will be guided by the principles of the Holistic Student Empowerment Model. Unlike our current system of dehumanizing education which indoctrinates the student to become a passive bystander, holistic education mandates that each student become an assertive actor in his or her instruction. This personalization of traditional pedagogy will instill in students the necessity and ability to proactively affect their environment. These principles of holistic learning and self determination offered by RROC will differentiate these programs from all other services provided by the university.
